Murray River

The might Murray River is Australia's largest river system, boasting a total length of 2520 kilometres. It is the third longest navigable river in the world, after the Amazon and the Nile. The Murray River spans three states- Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.

Stunning scenery can be viewed along the river, including Australian wildlife, native vegetation, heritage towns and camping spots.

Mannum

Along Australia's mighty River Murray resides the riverside town of Mannum. During the summer months, the town is alive with recreational facilities, picnic spots, and family fun. The main street is bustling with cafes and hotels, bric-a-brac shops, antiques and craft shops.

Sweeping willows and rustic shacks hug the wide river near Mannum, making it a delightful place to cruise downstream on a houseboat, dingy or old tyre. The town is steeped in local history, where the original stone buildings and century old trees can be admired.

Travellers can explore the nearby walking trails, including the Mannum Falls, which has easy and moderate level tracks passing winter-flowing waterfalls. Mannum is also home to PS Marion- a 114-year old paddle steamer, which has been lovingly restored for viewing.

Goolwa:

At the base of the Murray River is the bustling seaside town of Goolwa. The town is a historic river port on the Murray River near the Murray Mouth in South Australia, and joined by a bridge to Hindmarsh Island. The name "Goolwa" means "elbow" in Ngarrindjeri, the local Aboriginal language.
